As children, we almost all read a paragraph entitled My Hobby. Everybody used to write about different hobbies there. Someone’s hobby was gardening, someone’s hobby was collecting stamps and someone’s hobby was collecting coins from home and abroad. But collecting cars as someone’s favorite hobby – have you ever seen or heard of that?
Today I will talk about a fancy man whose hobby is to collect cars. Collecting all the old cars from far and wide, Mahmudul Faruk, a car collector from Bangladesh, has been fulfilling his hobby for years! The cars in his collection are classic cars, there is a lot of history mixed with cars!
As soon as you enter Mahmudul Faruk’s farmhouse on the main road of Uttara in Dhaka, you will see a small gate. Some people are doing the maintenance work of some vehicles.

The way car addiction started
Mahmudul Faruk’s interest in cars was created by seeing his father. His father Mosleh Uddin also had a love of cars. Initially, he got this hobby from his father, but his hobby of collecting cars became stronger when he went abroad to study for higher education. After passing Matriculation from Chittagong Collegiate and Inter from Dhaka City College, Mahmudul Faruk migrated to Germany for higher studies. While there he noticed that there are many people in the world who collect cars.
This different hobby also sat in him. From then on, he started studying about car and after completing his higher education, he returned to the country to pursue the hobby of collecting cars.
First car collection
Faruk returned to the country in 1977 with a hobby of car Collection. He came to Nazirhat in Chittagong and saw a 1928 model Ford brand car. Many of you have heard the name of the moon car but many do not know which is the real moon car. These Ford brand cars are the original moon cars. Faruk’s hobby of collecting cars started with this car.

The car tells the history
The cars in Mahmudul Faruk’s collection seem to speak of history. The car of his collection has the touch of many Bangladeshis in the country. The first three presidents of Bangladesh and even a car used by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have taken place in Faruk’s collection.
Chevrolet is a 1956 model car with Chittagong ka2133 number. Bangabandhu used this car whenever he went to Chittagong. Earlier, three presidents also used this car. Memories of the liberation war are mixed with this car! This vehicle was used to bring the war equipment of the freedom fighters. A glass leaked in the firing of the Pak aggressors. But he did not repair it as a memory of the liberation war.
Just as there are cars commemorating the liberation war, there are also cars used in the Second World War in Faruk’s collection. Vehicles used by the British and Japanese armies can also be seen in Faruk’s collection. There are cars from different countries including America, Japan, Italy, Germany on his northern farm. The brands are all old-fashioned classics. He has collected classic models of cars from Chevrolet, Austin, Fiat, Rolls Royals, Toyota Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Maurice Minor, Jaguar, Mazda, and some other brands.

At present, he has about 60 cars in his collection. Collecting these is his hobby, some of the cars he uses himself. If you need to repair it, use it for yourself from time to time. He has been driving a four-cylinder Chevrolet 1927 model on the streets of Dhaka for a long time. He also took part in the first vintage car rally in Dhaka in 1985.
What is more interesting is that he also went into this car as a bridegroom during his marriage. Therefore, it is understood how deep is Mr. Faruk’s passion for vintage cars!
There are also some endangered cars in the world in Mahmudul Faruk’s collection. There are only 5 Chevrolet Python 1931 models in the world. One of them is in Faruk’s collection.
First tractor in Bangladesh
The first tractor to come to Bangladesh is in Faruk’s collection. The tractor dates back to the time of the then East India Company in the thirties. The son of a landlord of Kushtia bought this tractor from abroad. Although he started farming with it, one day the landlord’s son died. The landlord also died in this tractor. Many thought it was a cursed tractor. Later it was sold as a rice threshing machine but it was handed over to Mahmudul Faruk.
There are not only cars but also bikes and airplanes
There are cars in Mahmudul Faruk’s collection, there are also some old classic bikes! Mr. Faruk has a small collection of old bikes like Italian Vespa, England’s Triumph, Royal Enfield, Lampbrata Ducati. There is also an Indian US 1942 model bike used by the British Army against the Japanese Army in World War II.

Whether it’s a car or a bike, any car collection actually needs to be repaired. Mr. Faruk also took care of the repair work. The repair work is done in the collection of his Maina Tech. He finds out which car needs which parts. Sometimes he has to look outside the country for car parts. He did not back down. Find the parts and repair the collection car!
When Mahmudul Faruk walks in front of these cars or gets in a car, it seems that the history of these cars floats in front of him. Either walk in the museum or imagine Bangabandhu riding in a Ford with his eyes closed! He loves his cars and takes care of them regularly. Are you taking good care of your car?
