Abhik Anwar: The first Bangladeshi to win international motor racing.

During the last Eid-ul-Fitr, a picture of a gentleman with actress Jaya Ahsan on Facebook went viral. Do you know who that gentleman is? Many may have thought that he was in a relationship with Jaya Ahsan. But no, he is actually the husband of Jaya Ahsan’s cousin. But he has one more identity. Before that introduction, let’s take a look at the Facebook page of cricketer Tamim Iqbal. The post was taken from cricketer Tamim Iqbal Khan’s verified Facebook page, congratulating a racer for winning the first international motorsports event in Bangladesh. Tamim Iqbal, who was congratulated as the winner in the Facebook post, is the gentleman in the picture with Jaya Ahsan. He is also a friend of Tamim Iqbal. Name Abhik Anwar.

Abhik Anwar became the first Bangladeshi to win an international motorsports competition after winning the Volkswagen Ameo Cup at the International Motor Event in India. Couldn’t see the face of success by participating in the same event twice before. But he did not give up and took part again. And that’s the bet.

The way motor racing started

Abhik Anwar is an FIR recognized professional racer. His dream of becoming a racer started in 1999. He dreamed of becoming a racer after watching Formula One racing on TV. Cherished this dream and migrated to foreign lands to study. He was invited to study economics at the University of Toronto in Canada. And that opened the door to fulfilling his dream.

For those who are interested in motor racing in our country, the first obstacle is to say that our country does not have the necessary facilities for this sport. There are no skilled coaches for this game, no racing tracks. So it is a very difficult challenge to build yourself as a racer on the soil of Bangladesh.

Learning racing by doing a part-time job

When he went to study in Canada, he saw that he could take racing training with a little effort. Because Canada is not as tied as Bangladesh. There are trainers, there are racing tracks. The only thing tied up there is money. Since motor racing is an expensive sport, it takes a lot of money to be a racer. He studied in Canada and worked part-time. He used to save money earned from a part-time job to become a racer. Gone are the days when Abhishek worked as a pizza deliveryman in winter like minus forty degrees Celsius, just to save money and make his mark on the racing track.

Thus, he saved money for racing till 2009 through inhuman work. That same year, he started practicing at Toronto Motor Sports Park, a racing track in Toronto, Canada, capitalizing on the money he had saved. Practicing on this racing track costs a lot of money. According to Abhik’s commentary, for every two hours of practice, about 14 thousand takas has to be counted! You have to take your own car again

Participate in tournaments

Abhik did not have to spend less money to take part in the racing tournament. Certificates and licenses are required to participate in racing competitions. A racing certificate is available from India for Rs 50,000. After receiving this certificate you have to apply for a racing license. The cost to get a racing license is twice as much as a racing certificate! About one lakh rupees! With this license, any racer can take part in any motor racing tournament.

He returned to the country from Canada in 2014 and participated in the RallyCross Championship in Dhaka. Abhik was also the first in this competition. But that was not a professional racing competition. So he started looking for where professional racing was held.

In 2016, a similar professional motor racing event registered its name in the Amio Cup of India. He also took part in that competition. And for that, he had to spend 12 lakh takas! A total of 11 rounds of racing can be done with this money. And you have to bear the rest of the expenses. In other words, it takes about one lakh rupees per round. And if you want to achieve the desired success, then the cost will be around 30-32 lakh takas!

Success

You need a professional racing coach to win a racing tournament. From 2017 to 2019, he did not have a coach of his own. So it is too late to get success.

He joined Momentum Motor Sports, a racing team in India, for coaching. With training and guidance from there, he has been able to achieve this success this year.

Many may be wondering, how does he raise so much money for motor racing? Basically, all his work is dealing with cars. He has his own car business. There is a car shop called Car House. He is continuing his racing by saving the profit earned from the car business.

Abhik’s advice for those who want to do racing

However, not everyone is as affluent as Abhik. So for those who are interested in motor racing, Abhik’s advice is to practice racing in the first simulator. He himself still practices racing in the simulator.

“If you are interested in racing, buy a simulator instead of an expensive mobile,” said Abhik. This is the first step. Then you can do a karting race. And you have to go through these two stages in the racing track and racing championship.

In a country where you have to drive for hours to drive, a young man from that country is shining in the face of the country by becoming a world racer champion. This is undoubtedly a source of pride for us. Besides cricket, Bangladesh’s name is being associated with other sports. But whatever the country, if there is talent in someone, and if that person is looking for that talent, then if you take care of the talent, success will come. As if he has tracked the success with his own talent. Abhik Anwar is proof of that.
