Rabbi Apa: The Story of a Car Mechanic Who Never Gave up!

The women of this age are proving this famous saying that who can cook, can also dress up well. At present, women are omnipotent. In the Domestic life and job sector, they are moving forward. The only women who work outside all day and take care of the children and do all the household chores with skillful hands. A wonderful female mechanic ‘Rabbi Apa’ and the story of her life refuted the argument that men can do what women cannot do. The issue of a woman as a mechanic is not very common in Bangladesh or even abroad.

Leaving these traditional practices behind, Rabbi Apa, who took a bold decision in this hard work, is now a successful female mechanic. Mechanic Rabbi Apa can be an inspiration for the backward women of Bangladesh. Let’s know some information about the childhood and career of a struggling female mechanic Rabbi Apa.

When Childhood Bring to an End

Full Name – Rabeya Sultana. Everyone knows her as ‘Rabbi Apa‘.

Place of Birth – Dinajpur.

Although she was supposed to give the SSC exam in 2005, she did not take the exam as she could not have the registration fee. Father Abdul Aziz was a vegetable seller. She had to work hard to support her family with eight members including six children. Due to the financial crisis, they had to starve. Rabia said she never wanted to be a mechanic. But everyone in the family would have starved then. The brothers did not pay for the family. There was a kind of stubbornness working inside him. She thought that when she grows up, she will run the family and take care of all the needs of her parents.

She can tell what is the problem of the car by touching the engine with her hands.

When Wins the Life Battle

In 2005, a field worker from CARE Bangladesh visited Rabbi’s house. They said they would teach poor girls to work. Rabeya took driving training in Dinajpur. She then started working after about nine months of driving training. After training, they are called for an oral exam. But she could not compatible there. She later took the opportunity to ask CARE to join him as a mechanic.

Gradually increased the skill a little more. What if the girl stops? As many car parts are heavy that no girl can move alone! She never backed down from those things out of fear. Just as Wonder Woman picks up all the big cars with one powerful hand, I can see in my imagination, just as Rabbi fixes up all the big cars with one hand.

She can now easily change the filter of the car, work the brakes, change the Mobil. From motorcycles to jeeps, private cars, she did all the work in an instant. At first, many were reluctant to let him do the car work. But the rule of CARE is that there is no difference between men and women. Later, when everyone saw that she was doing a very good job, she would come to him for the second time and tell him to repair the car.

Has been working with CARE for 13 years.

The manager of the care said that at present they have 12 employees. The only rabbi among them is a female worker. Praising the rabbi, she said she was the only female motor mechanic. She is a very skilled worker. If you touch the engine or the wheel, you can understand the problem of the car. That means the rabbi is the car doctor. She added that she not only does the work of a mechanic perfectly but also helps with other office work. Never say ‘no’ to any work. She has the mentality of accepting all the work. All in all, she is an excellent worker.

She has been working with CARE since 2006.

A few years ago, the rabbi went to work in a bank in Dinajpur. The stunned bank manager couldn’t believe how a woman could become a mechanic. The rabbi was forced to show her identity card. There are many people who are amazed at the rabbi’s profession and look at him. Ignoring those crooked eyes, the rabbi is moving towards success.

Family and Responsibilities

Rabbi has a four-year-old child. Her husband used to work for an NGO but now he does not. Now he gives the child time. Rabbi gets a salary of around BDT 45,000 per month including overtime. Two families live on her money. One family is her husband and the child and another is her father and her mother in the village. She also pays taxes regularly. Smiling a little, she said that the reason for saying salary is that other girls are also interested in joining the profession beyond the so-called boundaries of society. When she goes to her village, everyone comes to see him and wants to know about her profession, she is surprised. Rabbi likes to answer their questions. Many people say again, why do the work of men? Then the rabbi answered all the questions with a smile.

Mechanic Rabbi Apa is a hard worker.

Rabbi added, “When I return home after work, my energy doubles. In the midst of everything, I’m a mother, a wife, right?

Man is as Big as His Dream

In the future, her desire is to set up her own mechanic factory in her hometown of Dinajpur. And making her son an Aeronautical Engineer. I hope her dreams will come true one day.

Reality teaches people a lot. Nazrul becomes Dukhu Mia or rebellious poet after suffering from grief and suffering in childhood. And Rabeya becomes mechanic Rabbi Apa to provide food for her needy family. And people like Rabbi Apa are our role models, motivators to move forward. When extreme poverty teaches people to be self-reliant, no obstacle in society has the power to hold them back. With indomitable mental strength, confidence, hard work, any human being can reach the ultimate peak of his goal. The story of the mechanic Rabbi Apa teaches us this.
